My name is Mark Lacis and I am running for the Superior Board of Trustees. During this election cycle, you will see me at community events; you might receive a phone call from me or even see me at your doorstep ringing your doorbell. I hope to meet you, get to know you better, and understand what you feel is important to our town of Superior. Here is a short bio about me.
I grew up in New Jersey, but spent winter vacations in Colorado visiting friends & family. Ever since I was a kid, my dream was to someday live in Colorado. I am proud to say I am living that dream. My wife Chris and I moved to Colorado over a decade ago, and we are now raising twin four year old boys in Rock Creek. We chose to live in Superior because of its excellent schools and safe neighborhood. However, we quickly realized the best and most important thing about Superior is its people – our community, our neighbors – who we now consider our extended family.
It is this sense of community that motivated me to get involved in our town. I currently serve as a commissioner on Superior’s Planning Commission. As a commissioner, I am responsible for reviewing development plans, soliciting and listening to community input, and advising the Board of Trustees on how the town should move forward on major decisions that will affect the future growth of Superior. In my professional career, I am an attorney and partner at Ireland Stapleton, a business law firm that recently celebrated its 90th anniversary in Colorado. I represent businesses and individuals, and help my clients understand and resolve their most difficult problems. I plan to bring my experience as a problem solver to Superior’s Board of Trustees to help navigate the complex challenges that we will face in the future.
I am also active as a volunteer. I was honored when Governor Hickenlooper appointed me to serve as a commissioner on the Judicial Performance Commission for the Twentieth Judicial District (Boulder). I am also a member of the Colorado Bar Association’s Ethics Committee and a board member for the Colorado Lawyer’s Trust Account Foundation.
Aside from work and volunteer activities, my passions are music, the outdoors, and most importantly, my kids. I’m a drummer by heart (although I don’t get to play my drums as much as I did before the kids were born ☺). I love skiing and mountain biking, but most weekends now you’ll just find me hiking with my family in the trails west of Superior and teaching my boys how to ride their bikes in our cul-de-sac.
I love everything about our awesome town and I am committed to doing everything I can to make Superior the best place to live and raise a family. I would be honored and humbled to receive your vote.
